Copenhagen Distortion Festival 2026: Dates, Lineup & Everything You Need to Know

Copenhagen Distortion Festival 2026 is back and it’s bigger, bolder and more spread across the city than ever. Running from Wednesday 3 June to Sunday 7 June 2026, Distortion takes over the streets, harbours and warehouse districts of Copenhagen for five days of electronic music, street parties and rave culture that few festivals in Europe can match.

Whether you’re a first-timer trying to figure out the basics or a veteran planning your fifth pilgrimage, this is your complete guide to Distortion Festival 2026.

What Is Copenhagen Distortion Festival?

Copenhagen Distortion is a citywide street festival held every June, celebrating club culture, electronic music, street life and contemporary art. What started in 1998 as an underground party has grown into one of Scandinavia’s most beloved cultural events, drawing tens of thousands of visitors from Denmark and around the world.

The festival has two distinct formats running in parallel:

  • Distortion X – Free street parties across Copenhagen’s most iconic neighbourhoods, including Vesterbro and Rådhuspladsen. Open to everyone.
  • Distortion Ø – A ticketed, adults-only (18+) rave festival on Refshaleøen (Friday 5 and Saturday 6 June), featuring five dedicated stages and 55+ artists.

Together, they create a full-spectrum festival experience that blends accessibility with underground credibility.

Sara Landry – The Texas-born techno powerhouse returns to Distortion Ø for what promises to be one of the sets of the summer. Known for her relentless energy and precise programming, she headlines the Rave Stage on Friday.

WhoMadeWho – The beloved Danish trio needs no introduction in Copenhagen. Playing a hybrid DJ set on Forest Stage on Friday, they bring with them a catalogue of hits including “Abu Simbel” and “Nefertari” – and a Cercle session filmed at Abu Simbel that is closing in on 10 million views.

Parra for Cuva – The German producer plays his highly anticipated live set on Saturday’s Forest Stage, building emotional, cinematic atmosphere from first note to last. His Cercle session has already surpassed 6 million views, and collaborations with Monolink and Ólafur Arnalds speak for themselves.

Moodymann – Detroit legend Kenny Dixon Jr. arrives on Oasis Stage on Saturday. A true architect of house, disco and deep groove, Moodymann is one of the most iconic names in electronic music history.

Charlie Sparks – Flown in from South London, Charlie Sparks brings fast kicks, psychedelic spirals and acid-laced energy to the Rave Stage on Saturday. He has releases on NINETIMESNINE and Amelie Lens’ label EXHALE.

Kevin Saunderson – Another Detroit legend, Kevin Saunderson – one third of Inner City and co-creator of the classic “Good Life” – heads the Oasis Stage on Friday with his signature tech house sound.

Where Is Distortion Ø? Getting to Refshaleøen

Distortion Ø takes place on Refshaleøen – a former industrial island just east of central Copenhagen that has become the city’s creative hub. It’s home to street food markets, art spaces and Copenhagen’s most adventurous nightlife.

Getting there is easy:

  • Water bus from Nyhavn or the Inner Harbour
  • Bike – Copenhagen’s cycling infrastructure makes Refshaleøen very accessible
  • Bus – Check the Distortion app for festival shuttle and transport updates

The Distortion app (available on iOS and Android) is your best friend for real-time schedules and navigation.

Why Distortion Is Unlike Any Other Festival

Distortion doesn’t happen in a field. It happens in the city – in the streets, in the squares, in the clubs and on the harbour. The free street parties give it a democratic, open spirit that most ticketed festivals can’t replicate. Then Distortion Ø brings the focused rave experience, with production values and lineups that rival the best clubs in Berlin or Amsterdam.

If you’re visiting Copenhagen in early June 2026, Distortion isn’t just an event to consider – it’s the reason to come.
